The fifth new episode of the second season of I Am Groot, which follows baby Groot on crazy escapades, is now available on Disney+. Despite the fact that the entire season is just about 20 minutes long, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans will definitely enjoy the many previously unknown subtleties.
One example of an easter egg is a small reference to Eternals, the 2021 film that brought a new set of heroes to the franchise. Groot discovers an ice cream parlor stocked with intriguing options in “Groot’s Sweet Treat,” the fourth I Am Groot short. A closer look reveals that one of the candies looks like Arishem.
Arishem the Judge is the Prime Celestial in charge of controlling the beginning of life on Earth, in case you forgot. The Deviants on Earth were also formed as a means to an end, and the Eternals were intended to combat them. An image of Arishem from Eternals next to his ice cream cone from I Am Groot is shown below.

Was James Gunn involved in the making of I Am Groot?
Although most fans are aware that James Gunn is currently managing DC Studios and that his career at Marvel has come to an end, the three Guardians of the Galaxy films are his most well-known works. “I believe he had a lot of faith and trust in us, especially after Season 1.”
The second season of I Am Groot was directed by Kirsten Lepore, who previously mentioned the upcoming season and Gunn’s involvement with ComicBook.com. Gunn did not produce the second season of I Am Groot, but he did give his blessing.
When James gave us the thumbs up, I took it as his approval and thought, “Okay, we’ve got our groove, we’re doing our thing.” “I believe we’re ready for Season 2,” said Lepore. “He made this character, so his DNA and fingerprints are always in there.”
Will Eternals 2 Happen?
According to rumors, an Eternals 2 is in the works, but Marvel has yet to make an official remark on the subject. Since the release of Eternals, there have been a few indirect references to Kumail Nanjiani’s character Kingo in other works. He was mentioned in Ms. Marvel the prior year and appeared on a poster for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special in Los Angeles.

In an interview with Total Film earlier this year, Nanjiani expressed uncertainty about his future with Marvel (via Games Radar). Even if it’s difficult to believe Marvel stars these days, Nanjiani appears to be telling the truth to the outlet.
Indeed! Listen, I’ve got plans for today. When asked about Kingo’s possible return, Nanjiani said, “I’m not sure if they have any plans.” “I’d love to come back.” However, I’m curious as to whether or not that will happen.
My ambition is to be able to do more. I had a great time playing the role. We’d be disappointed if he was just a one-time thing. However, as you can see, I am not making the decision.” Disney+ provides I Am Groot is available for streaming.
