Howard L. Kreamer Biography

Sergeant Major Kreamer took up his current role as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader at USSTRATCOM, based in Offutt Air Force Base, NE, in October 2021. USSTRATCOM falls under the Department of Defense and is one of the 11 Unified Commands. It holds responsibility for overseeing the global command and control of U.S. strategic forces, aiming to achieve essential national security goals. The command provides a wide range of strategic capabilities and choices for the President and Secretary of Defense.

Sergeant Major Kreamer joined the United States Marine Corps on January 14, 1991. He began his service at Parris Island on October 21, 1991, where he completed Recruit Training. Subsequently, he underwent basic infantry training at Infantry Training Battalion, Camp Geiger, NC.

Throughout his career, Sergeant Major Kreamer has held various positions, including Rifleman, Fire Team Leader, Squad Leader, Rifle and Weapons Platoon Sergeant, and Company Gunnery Sergeant at 1st Battalion 6th Marines and 3rd Battalion 6th Marines.

Among his notable assignments were his roles as a Drill Instructor at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island and Headquarters Marine Corps Manpower Management Enlisted Assignments as the 0311 Monitor. He also served as a First Sergeant at Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines, Bravo Company, Infantry Training Battalion, and Headquarters and Instructor Company, Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry East.

In May 2010, Sergeant Major Kreamer was promoted to his current rank and has since served as the Sergeant Major of various units, including Marine Air Control Squadron 4; 3D Marine Expeditionary Brigade, III MEF Headquarters Group, Camp Hansen; 2d Marine Expeditionary Brigade; 2d Marine Aircraft Wing; and U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific.

He has been deployed multiple times, including three deployments with the 22nd MEU to the Mediterranean Sea, one deployment with the 26th MEU in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sergeant Major Kreamer has earned several personal decorations for his outstanding service, including the Legion of Merit with one gold star, the Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with four gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star, and the Combat Action Ribbon with one gold star.
